The Untz Festival announces 2020 Date Change due to COVID-19

April 2, 2020

To all our fans and friends, It's been a crazy couple of weeks. Hope you're all safe, healthy, and taking all necessary precautions during this turbulent time. As festival organizers, you plan for inclement weather, wildfires, or even one of your headliners missing a connecting flight. "Global pandemic" wasn't in the instruction manual, but "expect the unexpected" definitely was, so we're finally ready to unveil our backup plan for you, and we thank you for your patience.

The spread of COVID-19 is wreaking havoc across the live music industry. It is our solemn responsibility to keep the safety and well-being of our artists, attendees, staff, and volunteers as our top priority. With that in mind, we have made the decision to move our festival dates from late May to October 9-11 in Browns Valley, California. We have been monitoring recommendations regarding large gatherings from the CDC, as well as following the rapidly changing guidelines from Governor Newsom, which helped us reach the conclusion that a date change was necessary.

All tickets, parking passes, and upgrades will be honored on our new dates. If you are unable to attend the festival in the fall, your tickets will be honored for our 2021 edition. If you are unable to attend either event, we will be emailing all ticket holders with information on how to obtain a refund. Please keep in mind that we are a small, independent organization, fighting against the big dogs to keep the underground bass scene in California alive (we've already seen so many of our fellow festivals close up shop even before the pandemic, which will claim so many more indie outlets). Refunds only help the credit card companies, and would put The Untz Festival at a severe disadvantage in staying afloat through this insane time. We kindly ask that you only ask for a refund if you are in dire financial need. That way we'll be able to keep serving you the best in bass for another decade. We thank you so much for your support.

Aside from the date change, little else has been affected by the move. Our lineup will remain mostly intact with all headliners reconfirmed, and we are as excited as ever to welcome you to our new home. If there is to be a silver lining in all of this, we have even more time to prepare the most organized event possible. We've been so excited to show off our beautiful new grounds, but we're just going to have to wait a little bit longer. We look forward to seeing you all at Sycamore Ranch in just a few months. The Untz Festival announces 2020 Location + Dates

January 6, 2020

New Year, new home.

The Untz Festival is moving to Sycamore Ranch in Browns Valley, California. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, the underground bass family reunion keeps its same weekend, taking place May 29-31, 2020.

In addition to being 2 hours from both the Bay Area and Reno/Tahoe, the new spot is less than an hour from Sacramento and Chico, and mere minutes from Grass Valley. The immaculately kept grounds are the pride of Yuba County, which also boasts proximity to water features and a swimming hole.

The best news for bass fans is that music will be able to continue unimpeded through the night, culminating in sunrise sets each morning of the three-day festival. Sound systems playing the best in underground bass music is enough to bring fans in from all over the world, but we're most excited to see our longtime faithful fans and their crews who have been a part of our event each of the past five years.

Speaking of crews, The Untz Festival will once again feature takeovers and showcases from our favorite collectives and labels, with top-notch production and workshops, yoga, and art at the focal point of the event. On-site walk-in camping will be first come, first serve, as always, with premium car camping featuring electricity and water for those who want a little something extra out of their camping experience. RV spots will also be available, but very limited.

We are grateful for the four years we spent in our old location, but an exhaustive search of the entire state has landed us the perfect venue for what we do, and what our fans deserve. Home is where the homies are. Stay tuned for ticket information, and in the meantime, start spreading the news.

The Untz Festival announces 2018 Dates

September 12, 2017

The second we walked off the property this summer, we started planning for next year. That's the kind of perfectionist malcontents we are. Frankly, the second we got on the property this year, we started planning for next year, and if we're being perfectly honest, the planning phase for next year started a long, long time before that. Bottom line us, we're ready to go back.

The Untz Festival is thrilled to return to its home at the Mariposa Fairgrounds in Mariposa, California from June 2-3 with an Early Arrival Party on June 1. The underground bass community will reunite once again in this beautiful mountain community less than an hour from the mouth of Yosemite National Park. The best and brightest up-and-comers in the bass scene will return to Mariposa next summer, and is thrilled to be announcing its new lineup and revealing its festival partners in the coming months.

Early Bird tickets go on-sale September 19th, with 2-day passes, 2-day + Early Arrival passes, a limited number of car camping passes, parking passes, and RV passes with hookups. New in 2018, we are excited to announce pre-setup campsites which include basic camping amenities for attendees on-site under one of our shaded structures. Additionally, we have 4 tent cabin bungalows up for grabs—each one has space for two on a comfy queen-sized bed with power and WiFi located conveniently near our on-site amenities. Hurry, these will go quickly.

The Untz Festival announces 2017 Final Lineup

February 21, 2017

The long wait is over. Today we reveal the final lineup for The Untz Festival 2017, and it's one of our proudest accomplishments in the 7-year history of our company. When was founded back in 2009, we made it a priority to shine a spotlight on underground artists changing the electronic music landscape, and today we can point to our lineup and say we're doing just that.

Returning June 2-4 to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa, California, our second year provides a healthy mix of legendary veterans who have been blazing a path, and the fresh talent who has been carving out new lanes from their predecessors, and they all come together in northern California in just 100 days.

Fans were excited to learn we had tapped superstars of the underground bass worldLiquid Stranger, Space Jesus, TRUTH,EPROM, Shlump, Conrank, Tsuruda,Sayer, NastyNasty, The Widdler,Thelem, and The Librarian to headline our festival. But we had to dig deeper in Phase 2. We had to identify the cutting-edge stars of tomorrow who will be headlining clubs, theaters, and eventually festivals in the coming years.

Joining our lineup, we are beyond thrilled to include PROKO, Levitation Jones,Huxley Anne, DIGITAL ETHOS, and the mysterious figure known only to us atTLZMN—a project which had its debut at Bamboo Bass Festival this past weekend. It's also our pleasure to add local and regional favorites ION, DFNDRS, and SweetTooth to the bill, to give our fans in the Central Valley a chance to root on the hometown heroes. But that's not all—one of the most exciting acts on our entire lineup, Yheti, has added a special sunrise ceremony to close out the entire festival with an intimate set no one will soon forget.

One of the biggest changes we made from our first year was to understand the importance of picking the right partners. This year we had the opportunity to join forces with some of the best bass crews in the country—partners who have been throwing underground shows and sniffing out the latest talent who's not even on our radar. Fans know that we tapped Colorado'ssub.mission to head up our Early Arrival Party onJune 2, but we also joined forces with Wormhole Music Group, ThazDope Records, and ShadowTrix Music.

Wormhole brings us an act we are unafraid to call legendary. The UK's Ivy Lab are drum & bass royalty, and have been at the center of all sorts of movements both overseas and right here in America. They've also added Wakaan favorite Of The Trees to round out the lineup that features new Wormhole residents Shwungand Dastardly. And don't forget about Gnargate. The production on Wormhole's late night stages will be a sight to behold when Simple Machinists, Field FX, and Digital Introspect get this baby crankin'.

Rolling deep from the midwest, southeast, and beyond with a stacked lineup, ThazDope Records added even moreyoung talent to its roster, boasting a lineup that now features Niraya, Zeplin, beardthug, CVNDLES, Gutta Kick B2B Eratixx, and locals Abstrukt and Bipolar-Frequencies amongst many more additions to go along with bigwigs Toadface, Moniker, Alejo, Psydell, and smith.

We can't say enough about how fast ShadowTrix Music the lable has been shooting up in the underground bass world, but as stage producers, these guys are totally crushing it. Not only did they add longtime STM favePartyWave, but a true legend from the iconic Teklife crew, TASO. Handpicked by the late, great DJ Rashad, TASO is bringing his repertoire of footwork, juke, and much, much more to the table. This is a really special booking for us, and we're so thrilled about his addition. Throw in a few more ShadowTrix faves like Muppet Punk, SubDocta, andBenjah Ninjah, and things just got a lot more interesting.

More will be said about the fact that we have two stages of Funktion-Ones and two stages of pK Sound (including the much-anticipated Trinity rig on the main stage), but suffice it to say that our production game is looking mighty fine this year. Beyond the Gnargate, we've got Fractaled Visions and Lattice Tech handling main stage duties, and of course The Siren Society from Reno will be flying high overhead giving fans plenty of gawk-worthy acrobatics.

In addition to the comfortable camping that fans enjoyed so much last year at the fairgrounds, we are introducing a limited number of car camping passes, which are going fast but aren't completely gone just yet. Same as last year, we have RV passes for those with or without hookups, but indoor showers and bathrooms can be enjoyed by all. Of course we still have plenty of water stations, a huge selection of beer and food, and just about the coolest fans on the planet with whom to mix and mingle at our intimate, family and friends vibe festival.

Spend the time between now and summer studying up on some of these incredible acts with whom you may not be quite familiar just yet (but trust us, they're going to be the mega-stars of tomorrow). But don't waste time in getting your tickets. This limited run of Early Bird tickets at this low, low price will be gone soon.

The Untz Festival announces 2017 Initial Lineup

December 12, 2016

It's finally here. Today we revealed the initial lineup for The Untz Festival 2017, and it's a doozy! Returning June 2-4 to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa, California, our second year is going to be a big level up for us in terms of lineup, production, and vibes—all we need is you.

Wakaan superstars Liquid Stranger and Space Jesus are reunited after this past spring's epic tour. Martin Stääf and Jasha Tull have knocked out two killer fall tours individually, but we had to get them back together for our festie.

If it's classic dubstep you like, the pairing of Liquid Stranger with New Zealand's TRUTH is almost too much to handle. Deep, Dark & Dangerous—you got it. Monsters of experimental bass EPROM, Yheti, Shlump, Conrank, Tsuruda, and Sayer make this one of the most cutting-edge bills on the block. We like it weird.

The biggest thing that fans will notice in 2017, is that we crewed up hard. What fun is it throwing a party, if you've got to do all the work yourself? We answered that great question—teamwork makes the dreamwork. We've joined forces with some incredible crews from the west coast, Colorado, and the midwest to really make The Untz Festival feel like a collective. On Friday, June 2, we'll be hosting an Early Arrival Party for fans wanting to get on the grounds ahead of schedule to get the party started proper. Legendary underground dubstep crew sub.mission is helping us start things on the right foot by bringing out NastyNasty, The Widdler, and Thelem. A Saturate Records mainstay, a dubstep icon, and a rising star of bass. That's a helluva kickoff. For years, one crew in the Bay Area has made it mandatory to get weird each and every Wednesday. The Wormhole Music Group out of Oakland is coming on board to send our late night programming into hyperdrive. These guys have been bringing progressive artists to the Bay for a while, and their late night stage is no different, hosting Canada's greatest export, The Librarian, as well as Aussie glitch master Circuit Bent. They will be joined by a lineup of Wormhole residents who make us say TGIW.

From the heart of the midwest comes ThazDope Records, throwing down a big ol' lineup on its own stage. We've been watching acts like Aplsoz, Alejo, Psydell, and Toadface grow and develop over the years, and the amount of attention paid to their careers is due in no small part to the hustle on ThazDope's part, which has found itself anchoring guerilla stages at festivals across the country. Now the crew is throwing its own stage the legit way, and that means they can go as big and as bad as they want on the production end. That's going to be a party zone. We've seen ShadowTrix Music blow up over the past year. This left-field label has dropped some of the nastiest records of the past year, and is steaily gaining traction around the industry for producing the next generation of bass music stars. The collective co-helmed by Trevor Kelly and Treemeista, is headed up by Kelly's collaborative project with Shlump, RudeBoyNoize. Let's just say “fuck yeah” to that powerhouse combo. Some of our favorites like Kozmo, Kowta, ChopsJunkie, and ShermGerm will be coming out to keep the party going into the wee hours of the morning.

For years, the battle has raged between audiophiles and festival goers whether Funktion-One or pK Sound holds it down heavy and clean on the sonic front. Wood Street Productions is loading up a truck full of pK's and heading to Mariposa to power ShadowTrix's late night soiree, as well as supplying the world-famous Trinity system (which debuted last year powering Shambhala, EDC's Bassrush, and Bassnectar in Arizona) for the main stage. Source One Audio Solutions and Soundsystem Cultures are bringing in Funktion-One rigs for the Wormhole and ThazDope stages, respectively. With two stages of F1's and two stages of pK's, there will be plenty more fodder for this argument, and in the end, the fans win.

Finally the STL Moon Tribe is hosting wellness, spirituality, and yoga workshops. You know their work from the inaugural Astral Observatory festival which hit Missouri over Labor Day Weekend. Expect tea ceremonies, seminars on self-growth, and guided meditations. Looking to center yourself, get away from it all, and reflect? This is your safe space.

But that's not all that's new this year. In addition to the cozy, comfortable surrounds that fans enjoyed so much last year at the fairgrounds, we are introducing a limited number of car camping passes, for those who don't ever want to be too far from their vehicles. Same as last year, we have RV passes for those with or without hookups, but indoor showers and bathrooms can be enjoyed by all. Throw in plenty of water stations, a huge selection of beer and food, and the wait until June just got unbearably difficult. Spend the time between now and summer studying up on some of these incredible acts with whom you may not be quite familiar just yet (but trust us, they're going to be the mega-stars of tomorrow). But don't waste time in getting your tickets. This limited run of Early Bird tickets at this low, low price won't last forever.

The Untz Festival announces 2017 Dates

November 14, 2016

The outpouring of support we at received after launching our inaugural festival this past year was incredible. All the hard work paid off in a magical celebration of underground electronic music in June in northern California.

So much so, that we just had to do it again. Once more, The Untz Festival will return to Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa, California from June 3-4, 2017 with an Early Arrival Party on June 2.

Located just a couple hours east of the Bay Area, and less than an hour from the mouth of Yosemite National Park, the festival site has an unbeatable array of amenities including indoor showers and bathrooms, easy access parking and camping, food and beverage vendors, and booming sound on four stages.

Of course, it's all about the music. Last year we had the likes of Phutureprimitive, The Werks, Desert Dwellers, Kalya Scintilla, Kaminanda, Wick-it The Instigator, Mr. Bill, Illenium, Said The Sky, Crywolf, Fractal and more going all day and through the night into the wee hours of the morning. This year, our plan is to dazzle fans of the underground scene with an even bigger lineup covering a wide array of styles and sounds with a focus on that west coast sound that Californians love.

On top of the amazing tunes, you can count on us providing a packed schedule of activities on the yoga and workshop front, as well as plenty of live painting in our world-class art gallery. Comfort is key at this intimate, family-and-friends vibe event. We have a number of special surprises in store, yet again.

Fans will get a peek at that lineup December 6th, the very same day that tickets go on sale at

The Untz Festival announces Phase Two Lineup

December 7, 2015

We can't begin to express the gratitude we feel towards our friends and family who have shown an incredible outpouring of love and support for us since we launched The Untz Festival earlier this year. It's the biggest thing we've ever done, and it makes us smile to think about all the artists, promoters, labels, and managers who have offered to lend a hand to help us pull this crazy thing offJune 2-4, 2016 at Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa, CA.

Our Phase 1 lineup really illustrated what we're trying to do with the festival. We collected our biggest supporters, and the artists with whom we share an incredible bond (and believed in us since the beginning six years ago), and attempted to cover the entire underground electronic music spectrum. That's what speaks to us, and that's what our fans desire. Our Phase 2 lineup is an extension of that philosophy. Find the biggest and brightest stars on the verge of breaking out from all the genres we dig, and bring them together for a family fest.

One of our biggest supporters since the jump has been Phutureprimitive, and it's been a dream of ours to have him on our inaugural event. Rain just concluded the California leg of his fall tour with Bass Physics, who also happen to be on the bill, and we're beyond excited for him to join us in June.

Speaking of fall tours, The Werks just powered through California at the end of their big west coast run and absolutely blew the roof off every club and theater they hit along the way. These livetronica and dance rock titans keep growing, and it's absolutely wild to see their upward trajectory. Their brand new album, Inside a Dream, just dropped last month, and they're continuing to crush both studio and live work.

Just this past weekend in Miami, Crywolf debuted his new live show, which he's bringing to Mariposa. The talented singer-songwriter and producer released Cataclasm last month to rave reviews and the delight of his rabid fan base. The new stage show is going to be unlike anything fans have ever seen.

Like we've said before, livetronica is our bread and butter. Our Phase 2 lineup contains some extraordinary entries from that jam and hybrid electronic world. Midwest stars Turbo Suit break new ground in California alongside Colorado acts Greener Grounds, Vine Street Vibes, and Transfer Station. When Kinetik Groove joins up withBlunt Force, you get a lil' somethin' called Kinetik Force, and those three sets will be a sight to behold. Noted downtempo composerRyan Farish will also be breaking out his first fully live performance, as well.

Half a decade ago, we helped send Unlimited Gravity and Project Aspect to their first festival as contest winners. All these years later, they get to help us break in our first festival with a special B2B throwdown. Former winner of The Untz Challenge GKEN-E also joins the fun. We're thrilled to add special UNTZ faves Branx, CharlestheFirst,Outersect, LWKY, Cosmic Coast, Soul Cymatic, Grid Division, and all the way from Israel, one of the best newcomers in psy bass from this year, TRIBONE.

These incredible acts join our Phase 1 headliners Desert Dwellers, Kalya Scintilla & Eve Olution, Kaminanda,Wick-it The Instigator, Mr. Bill, Illenium, Fractal, Marvel Years, DYNOHUTER, and so many more. Psychedelic bass, glitch-hop, electro-soul, future funk, weird bass, chill trap, and a boatload of livetronica; that's what The Untz is all about.

What you get with this initial lineup is a promise that The Untz is going to deliver the fun and funky vibes of a jam festival in the midwest in the stunning beauty of northern California. Just an hour from the mouth of Yosemite National Park, folks looking for an excuse to escape to the breath-taking forests of NorCal just found one. With four stages, including two indoor late-night stages that go all night long, and a special pre-party on June 2, it will be the intimate camping experience set against a beautiful backdrop you've been looking for.

The Untz Festival announces Phase One Lineup

September 29, 2015

Our dream is becoming a reality. Since got off the ground six years ago, it's been a goal of the senior staff to hold a super intimate friends and family gathering with incredible performances from some of our favorite musicians from around the industry. It's our pleasure to announce that June 2-4 at Mariposa County Fairgrounds in Mariposa, CA, we get to do just that.

The Phase 1 lineup of our inaugural festival brings together some of our biggest homies and inspirations from across the electronic music spectrum. Because audiences of underground electronic music have cultivated such a variety of tastes and our fans in particular seem to appreciate the same incredible talents we find to be the real deal, we were able to assemble a lineup that not only ticks our boxes for our personal preferences, but also brought together a bunch of artists who our fans will dig.

Starting with the top three names on our lineup, fans of psychedelic tunes, sacred bass, and downtemple dub will be thrilled to hear we've cornered the market with our friends Desert DwellersKalya Scintilla & Eve Olution, and the inimitable Kaminanda. Throw in a little Sixis, and the trippy low-end is covered.

Fans of the mercurial music of Wick-it The Instigator, which runs from jaw-dropping turntablism hip-hop jockeying to guitar-shredding, funk-blasting, bass-fueled mayhem, will know that the party has arrived. And for those of us who crave our glitch-hop with an extra dose of weird bass, Australia's own Mr. Bill is on the case.

We know melodic bass inside and out, so we have assembled an unmatched selection of the some of the youngest, brightest stars in the scene. ILLENIUMFractalSiren, and Said The Sky will unleash all the feels on our friends and family.

Our bread and butter is livetronica, and we have dug deep to bring out some of our favorites, and those who we think will be the banner-holders for the genre for years to come. Representing all the various incarnations of live electronic hybrids and jamtronica acts, we've got Bass PhysicsMarvel YearsDynohunterYAMN, and Evanoff. And don't think we forgot you, electro-soul and future funk fans, because SugarBeats and Lucid Vision are holding it down with more to come.

The Untz Festival hits Mariposa County Fairgrounds June 2-4, 2016

September 9, 2015

After months of teasing fans with vague references to The Untz Festival, we at are thrilled to announce that our inaugural festival will be taking place June 3-4, 2016 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds in beautiful Mariposa, CA. A special pre-party will kick things off on June 2nd, deep in the heart of gorgeous northern California.

Because we have cultivated such a strong fan base of festivalgoers and music snobs, it took us at The Untz quite a while to get into the game of throwing our own big event. We wanted to wait until we found just the right partners, just the right venue, and lined up just the right musicians. At the end of the day, it's all about the music. Our focus for this festival is to cultivate a sound that is uniquely our own, and also fits the sensibilities of our audience. For that reason, expect a ton of livetronica, glitch-hop, psychedelic bass, future funk, downtempo, and that electro-soul we love to love.

While the focus is on the music, there will be plenty of attractions for attendees of The Untz Festival, including yoga, workshops, and trips to Yosemite National Park, which is just an hour away from the event site. For fans of ours who have been looking for an excuse to get out to California and experience the wild wonder of some of the natural world's greatest beauty, this is your big hint.

Start getting your finances and schedules in order, because our Phase 1 lineup will be dropping before the end of the month. We'll also be putting tickets on-sale with that initial roster of artists, at ridiculously low price points, we might add, so be prepared. Space is limited for this camping festival, so we encourage everyone to jump on the early bird discounts and secure their spot for our historic, inaugural festival.

And remember, it's all about the music.
